"Check engine" or "service soon" engine light is your car's way of telling you something is wrong. 

These little lights indicate a problem with your engine, your transmission, or some other system in your vehicle.  Often the light comes on because something in your vehicles systems is affecting the emissions. It usually sets a code in the onboard car computer when it comes on.  It could be as simple as a gas cap or as serious as a burnt intake or exhaust valve. Usually though its not quite that serious.

We are equipped to analyze your vehicle to see if the check engine light is something that needs immediate attention or if it can be scheduled at your convenience. There are other "auto" places of business that read your vehicle's codes and want to sell you everything listed under the repairs for that code (not needed).  For example the code may be for an oxygen sensor but in reality your fuel filter is stopped up causing a lean condition code.  (The difference between a relatively small repair and a relatively expensive repair!)  

Sometimes your vehicle will run fine with the light on and then other times it could even run rough depending on the problem.
